The role
The position involves supporting communication and interaction between beneficiaries and the multidisciplinary team, addressing linguistic and cultural barriers, and contributing to the understanding of the context and data collection for medical and socio-legal issues.
What you'll do
- Facilitating the relationship between patients and healthcare providers involved in medical and mental health consultations, as well as between patients and the socio-legal team.
- Providing high-quality interpretation between the multidisciplinary team and patients in their native language, taking into account cultural, sensitive, and clear communication.
- Supporting the implementation of health education activities and the promotion of sexual and reproductive health services.
- Participating in the development of language and communication tools in support of activities for the people accompanied.
- Contributing to the collection and capitalization of individual follow-up data on the medical, psychological, and social situations of people encountered.
What it takes
- Essential secondary education, diploma preferred in social sciences, social communication, or teaching.
- Interpreting and/or intercultural mediation training is an asset.
- Knowledge of social protection, child protection, and accommodation and care systems for unaccompanied minors is desirable.
- Experience in translation and/or intercultural mediation is desired.
- Experience with vulnerable publics, adolescents, or young adults is desirable.
- Master of the French and English languages. Knowledge of one of the following languages is mandatory: Tigrinya, Amharic, or Somali. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset: Arabic, Farsi, Kurdish-Sorani, German.
