The role
The Ellison Institute of Technology is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Laboratory Technician – Plant Cell Culture to support plant tissue and cell culture experiments and workflows within the Plant Biology Institute’s cell-based production research programme.
What you'll do
- Support and execute plant tissue and cell culture experiments and workflows
- Prepare sterile media, reagents and consumables
- Monitor cultures for growth, morphology, contamination, viability
- Collect, label and prepare samples for analysis
- Maintain accurate records of culture history and results
- Assist with troubleshooting technical issues
What it takes
- BSc, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification/practical experience in plant biology, biology, biotechnology, cell culture, molecular biology or a related discipline
- Practical experience in plant tissue culture
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and sterile media preparation
- Ability to follow SOPs and experimental protocols accurately
- Good numerical skills and IT skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
