The role
At Andromeda Robotics, we're seeking an Embedded Linux / Kernel Engineer to enhance the software platform that runs on our humanoid robot Abi, focusing on Linux platform work, firmware, and onboard software.
What you'll do
- Own and improve the Linux platform that powers Abi
- Investigate and resolve low-level system issues
- Support bring-up and integration of embedded hardware and compute platforms
- Improve the robustness and usability of provisioning, flashing, and deployment flows
- Work closely with firmware, electrical, autonomy, AI, and product engineering teams
- Contribute to OS and platform upgrade work
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in embedded Linux, systems programming, robotics software, platform software, or a closely related area.
- Strong Linux fundamentals, including comfort debugging system behaviour across userspace, services, device interfaces, and OS configuration.
- Experience working close to hardware on embedded or robotics systems.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Rust, or Python, with the ability to work effectively in at least one systems-level language.
- Experience debugging real-world issues using logs, shell tools, hardware documentation, schematics, datasheets, and disciplined root-cause investigation.
