The role

The Deputy Representative plays a leading role in the design and delivery of the UNFPA country programme, focusing on building alliances with governments, development partners, civil society, academia, and the private sector.

What you'll do

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the Country Programme in line with strategic plans and national population policies
  • Expand and diversify UNFPA’s portfolio to pursue strategic new programme options
  • Build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with key government partners
  • Advocate for the inclusion of ICPD agenda within national policies, plans, and strategies
  • Support the management of the Country Office including formulation of annual work plans

What it takes

  • Postgraduate university degree in Public Health, Medicine, Sociology, Demography, Gender, International Relations, International Development, Economics, Public Administration, Management or other related field
  • 7 years of increasingly responsible professional experience in public administration and international development including programme designing, appraising, and management; of which at least 5 years in the field of population and development, sexual and reproductive health or humanitarian at the international level
  • Experience in advocacy and policy dialogue
  • Excellent media/communication skills to foster engaged partnerships and maintain political partnerships
