The role

The Communications Officer position is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating communications strategies to promote the protection of children affected by armed conflict.

What you'll do

  • Develop an advocacy and communications strategy for the Office in collaboration with UN/DGC.
  • Contribute to implementation of the strategy and monitor its impact.
  • Produce and edit content for the Special Representative's website.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, and public information material.
  • Plan and manage the use of office communications budget.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related fields is required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, or related area is required.
  • Experience in building and managing networks to advance advocacy goals in multilateral settings is required.
  • Experience in the translation of complex political or conflict-related subject matters into public communications is required.
  • Experience with web-based communication technology and new media strategies is desirable.
