The role
The Building Mechanic position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of City-owned properties within NYCEDC’s Asset Management portfolio, specifically the Bush Terminal/MADE Campus in Brooklyn, NY, and other properties as assigned.
What you'll do
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and emergency services as directed
- Conduct daily inspections of assigned properties and inform supervisor of any maintenance issues or repairs needed
- Provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel when directed
- Monitor and report work performed by outsourced contractors
- Assist and escort outsourced contractors when required
- Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and external partners
What it takes
- High School diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification is a plus
- 5+ years of experience required with working knowledge in maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Ability to use handheld and desktop computer devices to input work orders and record work
- Must maintain a valid NYS Driver License with a clean driving record
- Working knowledge of construction and handyman repair techniques
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and materials, and equipment associated with construction related trades
