The role

The Water Policy Manager at National Audubon Society will advance water policy priorities in South Carolina through legislative advocacy, coalition leadership, stakeholder engagement, and implementation support.

What you'll do

  • Advancing water policy priorities through legislative advocacy and coalition leadership
  • Developing and implementing policy strategies that advance SC’s conservation priorities
  • Monitoring and analyzing legislative, administrative, regulatory, and funding opportunities related to water resources
  • Leading work with staff, coalition partners, and stakeholders on state planning efforts
  • Developing policy briefs, reports, presentations, testimony, comments, and other materials for advocacy efforts
  • Collaborating with communications staff and partners to develop outreach and engagement strategies

What it takes

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, environmental science, natural resources, planning, political science, public administration, law, or a related field
  • At least five years of professional experience in public policy, government affairs, legislative advocacy, water resources, conservation, natural resource management, or a related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water policy issues and ability to build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and facilitation
  • Experience developing and advancing legislative, regulatory, administrative, or funding strategies
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
