The role

The STRIDES Technical Advisor will lead technical focus areas for the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems project in Madagascar, ensuring alignment with global health security priorities and USG standards. This role involves directing country-specific workplans, managing technical deliverables, and fostering relationships with government counterparts and implementation partners. The advisor will also provide leadership and mentorship to a team of technical staff while ensuring project compliance and operational success.

What you'll do

  • Lead and direct technical focus areas and ensure alignment with global health security standards.
  • Develop and manage country-specific workplans, budgets, and high-quality technical reports.
  • Supervise, coach, and support the professional development of a team of technical advisors.
  • Manage relationships with national, regional, and local government partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with MEL and Communications teams to document and promote project successes.

What it takes

  • Master’s Degree in public health or a related health field.
  • 8+ years of project management experience, including 2 years of staff management.
  • Fluency in both English and French (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Knowledge of donor rules (e.g., Department of State) and global health security initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex, multidisciplinary health projects.
