The role

MCE Social Capital is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in a full-time, US-based position with a preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zones.

What you'll do

  • Prepare, review, and post accounting transactions
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close processes
  • Research and resolve discrepancies related to account balances, transactions, and supporting documentation
  • Assist in preparing schedules and supporting documentation for audits, tax filings, and financial reporting
  • Day-to-day monitoring and entering of bank activity
  • Manage and initiate various types of payables and disbursement requests through the banking portals
  • Enter lender and borrower transactions within the ERP system
  • Process and send client invoices and payment reminders
  • Partner with third-party payroll providers to initiate and review payroll processes
  • Facilitate communications, reporting, and ad-hoc analyses that support payroll operations
  • Help maintain internal controls and support compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within accounting operations
  • Provide support for ad hoc reporting, special projects, and other accounting duties as assigned

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Minimum 2 years professional experience, ideally in public accounting or an in-house accounting role
  • Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency a plus
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and operates with a growth mindset
  • Ability to work and think independently, proactively solve problems, and meet deadlines
  • Operates with high integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with QuickBooks, Salesforce or similar systems with an interest in leveraging technology to operate more efficiently
