The role
MCE Social Capital is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in a full-time, US-based position with a preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central time zones.
What you'll do
- Prepare, review, and post accounting transactions
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close processes
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to account balances, transactions, and supporting documentation
- Assist in preparing schedules and supporting documentation for audits, tax filings, and financial reporting
- Day-to-day monitoring and entering of bank activity
- Manage and initiate various types of payables and disbursement requests through the banking portals
- Enter lender and borrower transactions within the ERP system
- Process and send client invoices and payment reminders
- Partner with third-party payroll providers to initiate and review payroll processes
- Facilitate communications, reporting, and ad-hoc analyses that support payroll operations
- Help maintain internal controls and support compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency within accounting operations
- Provide support for ad hoc reporting, special projects, and other accounting duties as assigned
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Minimum 2 years professional experience, ideally in public accounting or an in-house accounting role
- Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency a plus
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and operates with a growth mindset
- Ability to work and think independently, proactively solve problems, and meet deadlines
