The role

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is seeking a Senior Human Rights Officer to serve as a Coordinator for the Commission of Inquiry on the situation in the North and South Kivu provinces of the DRC. The incumbent will manage the Commission's secretariat, supervise investigation planning, and act as the primary liaison between commission members, stakeholders, and UN agencies. This role requires extensive expertise in human rights investigations, team management, and the ability to integrate gender perspectives into reporting and operations.

What you'll do

  • Supervise investigation plans, methodology, and data collection tools.
  • Manage the overall work and internal workflows of the Commission Secretariat.
  • Facilitate communication between Commission members and the OHCHR.
  • Oversee victim and witness protection measures and referral pathways.
  • Manage the Commission's budget and administrative reporting.

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Law, Political Science, or International Relations.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in human rights or international law.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing teams.
  • Fluency in English and French (oral and written) is required.
  • Experience in human rights or international criminal law investigations is desirable.
