The role
The New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA) is seeking a Pretrial Associate for a midnight shift position to assist in reducing jail overcrowding and unnecessary detention by providing pretrial services and support to justice-involved individuals.
What you'll do
- Interview recently arrested individuals to determine community ties and make release recommendations
- Conduct telephone verifications of the information provided by individuals
- Explain bail payment procedures and assist sureties with the bail payment process
- Accurately record interview responses into the Agency’s computerized database
- Determine release recommendations for individuals using CJA’s standardized release assessment
- Participate in various interdepartmental programs to expedite bail payments

- One year of relevant work experience
- Preference given to candidates with a background in criminal justice or a related social science field
- Associate degree from an accredited college preferred
- Two or more years of comparable experience may also be considered
