The role

The consultant will support the generation of evidence and analysis from health workforce data in Latin America to inform policy decisions on human resources for health.

What you'll do

  • Develop a methodology for rapid systematic review of occupational profiles at the first level of care in the Americas region.
  • Identify and compile information on the five most frequent health worker occupations in the first level of care that integrate interdisciplinary teams, from National Health Workforce Accounts (NHWA) and other relevant sources.
  • Characterize the identified occupational profiles through descriptive and comparative analysis, identifying data gaps, inconsistencies, and limitations in reported information for selected countries.
  • Support the development of regional health workforce reports, specifically on good practices cases related to data governance, interoperability, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Update human resources tools related to the maturity assessment of health information systems, basic indicators dashboard, and EqIPS tool.

What it takes

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in health data analysis, health system research or human resource planning for health.
  • Experience with the WHO's National Health Workforce Accounts (NHWA) platform and its application in NHWA context.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative database analysis at national or regional level.
  • Knowledge of primary healthcare systems and first-level care organization in Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Experience in international technical cooperation projects or with multilateral organizations (OPS, WHO, BIRF, BID, etc.) is valued.
