The role
Mercy For Animals is seeking a Government Affairs Manager in Mexico to lead legislative and regulatory initiatives aimed at reducing animal suffering for consumption. The role involves advocacy, coalition building, and public representation.
What you'll do
- Develop strategies to promote MFA's mission and legislative/regulatory priorities.
- Research federal, state, and local public policies.
- Advocate at the local, state, and federal levels by working with legislators and regulatory agencies.
- Build bipartisan relationships with individuals, institutions, and organizations to positively influence and secure support for MFA initiatives.
- Collaborate with Global Corporate Relations team to develop campaign plans through research and analysis, oversee regional implementation, adapt as needed, and implement strategies to achieve identified goals.
- Create, manage, and lead coalitions to expand support for MFA's legislative priorities.
What it takes
- Bachelor's degree in law, political science, public administration, international relations or journalism (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience working with elected officials to advance legislative and regulatory initiatives
- Knowledge of federal and state legislative and regulatory processes
- Strong understanding of animal rights and welfare
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in corporate relations and/or campaigns
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to deliver impactful presentations
