The World Bank Group is seeking a Young Professional to work on institutional matters and arbitration proceedings at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington, DC, USA.

What you'll do

  • Assist with the development and implementation of institutional policies and procedures
  • Analyze requests for conciliation and arbitration
  • Assist in the constitution of conciliation commissions, arbitral tribunals and ad hoc committees
  • Prepare procedural orders and review decisions and awards
  • Contribute to knowledge creation and sharing
  • Undertake legal research in the fields of conciliation, arbitration, alternate dispute resolution and foreign investment law

What it takes

  • Law degree (JD, LLM or equivalent) and admission to the Bar (or equivalent) in at least one jurisdiction
  • 2-6 years of relevant professional experience
  • Advanced knowledge of international investment law and public international law
  • Advanced knowledge of arbitration practice and procedure
  • Advanced knowledge of ICSID and investor-State dispute settlement
  • Excellent legal drafting skills in English; drafting skills in French and/or Spanish would be desirable
