Turnstone Environmental Consultants is seeking seasonal Wildlife Biologists to conduct Strix owl surveys across Oregon for the 2026 field season. These positions involve nighttime broadcast surveys, nest location tracking, and precise ecological data collection in various forest terrains. Field staff receive training, logistical support, and, for many locations, provided housing.

What you'll do

  • Conduct nighttime broadcast surveys for northern spotted and other owl species.
  • Perform daytime surveys to locate nests and determine nesting status.
  • Collect clear, concise, and accurate ecological field data.
  • Communicate professionally with crew leaders, project managers, and landowners.
  • Navigate and operate 4WD vehicles on forest roads.

What it takes

  • Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology or related field preferred.
  • Ability to hike off-trail in steep, brushy conditions and inclement weather.
  • Proficiency in GPS, map reading, and orienteering.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to work flexible day, night, or split shifts.
