The role
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme is seeking a Wastewater and Water Quality Data Technical Specialist to work on the methodology for monitoring flows of total and industrial wastewater generated and safely treated, as well as other related tasks.
What you'll do
- Work on the methodology for monitoring flows of total and industrial wastewater generated and safely treated
- Collaborate with WHO and UNSD in support of a coherent repository of monitoring information on SDG 6.3.1 indicator
- Collect disaggregated wastewater data from at least 10-15 countries
- Contribute technical inputs to the 2024 SDG 6.3.1 indicator report
- Participate in meetings and activities conducted by UN-Water Integrated Monitoring Initiative for SDG 6 (IMI-SDG6)
- Prepare outreach materials and project proposals
What it takes
- Advanced university degree in Environmental Sciences or related field
- Experience in environmental sciences, water resources management, or water and development
- Experience in preparing scientific analysis on issues related to wastewater and water quality
- Experience in monitoring, data and data management, and capacity development
- Experience in GIS in the urban context
- Strong understanding of technical issues in the area of wastewater management
