The role

Northwest Youth Corps is seeking Urban Community Forestry (UCF) Young Adult Crew Leaders to manage and supervise crews of young adults in conservation projects. The role involves leading teams through urban forest health improvements, wildfire risk reduction, and green space enhancement. Candidates will provide mentorship, ensure safety, and deliver an educational curriculum while working on public and private lands.

What you'll do

  • Manage and supervise crews of up to 5 young adults (ages 19-26).
  • Implement a safe, highly efficient crew experience including managing break times and education curriculum.
  • Complete conservation-oriented projects on public and private lands.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to participants in their communities.
  • Improve urban forest health, reduce wildfire risk, and enhance green spaces.

What it takes

  • At least 20 years old with a clean criminal background check.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain it.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record for the past three years.
  • Experience in outdoor recreation, environmental education, or youth development preferred.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding labor (heavy lifting, digging, bending) for 8 hours daily.
  • Positive mental attitude, flexibility, and excellent judgment.
