The role
Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is hiring a Thematic Expert- Gender, Inclusion and Safeguarding for a short-term, on-site position in Kenya or Uganda. The role involves leading disaggregated analysis, overseeing qualitative data collection, and ensuring safeguarding standards are upheld.
What you'll do
- Lead disaggregated analysis of quantitative and qualitative findings
- Oversee the design and quality of qualitative instruments
- Directly oversee Key Informant Interviews, In-Depth Interviews, and Focus Group Discussions
- Ensure all fieldwork involving refugees, PWDs, and young women applies appropriate adaptations
- Serve as the review team’s primary safeguarding focal point
- Train or brief Research Coordinators, Senior Field Officers and Field Officers on gender-responsive and safeguarding-sensitive data collection practices
What it takes
- Advanced degree in gender studies, social sciences, development studies
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in gender-responsive evaluation, inclusive programming, or safeguarding
- Experience designing and conducting qualitative fieldwork with structurally excluded groups
- Working knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and referral pathways
- Strong facilitation skills in relevant Ugandan local languages
