The role

Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is hiring a Thematic Expert- Gender, Inclusion and Safeguarding for a short-term, on-site position in Kenya or Uganda. The role involves leading disaggregated analysis, overseeing qualitative data collection, and ensuring safeguarding standards are upheld.

What you'll do

  • Lead disaggregated analysis of quantitative and qualitative findings
  • Oversee the design and quality of qualitative instruments
  • Directly oversee Key Informant Interviews, In-Depth Interviews, and Focus Group Discussions
  • Ensure all fieldwork involving refugees, PWDs, and young women applies appropriate adaptations
  • Serve as the review team’s primary safeguarding focal point
  • Train or brief Research Coordinators, Senior Field Officers and Field Officers on gender-responsive and safeguarding-sensitive data collection practices

What it takes

  • Advanced degree in gender studies, social sciences, development studies
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in gender-responsive evaluation, inclusive programming, or safeguarding
  • Experience designing and conducting qualitative fieldwork with structurally excluded groups
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and referral pathways
  • Strong facilitation skills in relevant Ugandan local languages
