The role

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the further development and implementation of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and the United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS), focusing on critical raw materials, minerals, and anthropogenic resources.

What you'll do

  • Organizing technical meetings, seminars, workshops, and conferences to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration in relation to UNFC and UNRMS
  • Developing comprehensive technical and policy documentation, publications, and case studies related to the implementation of UNFC and UNRMS
  • Planning annual work programmes on UNFC and UNRMS, including milestones at semi-annual and quarterly periods
  • Managing daily work programme on UNFC and UNRMS: Allocation of assignments, participant support, contracts, and evaluation
  • Developing relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure outcomes and facilitate the evaluation of programmes of work

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in geology, mining/minerals/mineralogy, chemical or environmental engineering, earth sciences, geoscience, geochemistry, geophysics, petrology, or a related field
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in the management of energy and mineral resources or a related area
  • At least three years of experience having worked with UNFC as part of a national or local government, international organization, private sector, academia, or civil society
  • At least five years of experience working on critical raw materials
  • Fluency in English is required; Russian or French is desirable
