The role

The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is seeking a Sustainable Development Intern to support the Sustainable Development and Countries in Special Situations Section (SDCSS). This internship involves assisting with the organization of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, conducting research, and supporting communications and stakeholder engagement. The intern will work within a dynamic, intergovernmental environment to help advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the region. This is a full-time, unpaid internship opportunity based in Bangkok for a duration of six months.

What you'll do

  • Provide logistical and coordination support for the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development
  • Assist in the preparation of meetings with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and create multimedia and social media content for outreach purposes
  • Conduct research and synthesize data into reports, presentations, and infographics
  • Maintain websites and knowledge management platforms with updated materials

What it takes

  • Enrolled in a graduate program or final year of an undergraduate program, or a recent graduate
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Strong interest in sustainable development challenges in the Asia-Pacific region
  • Ability to work full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset
