The role
PATH is seeking a Substance Use Specialist to join their Metro Rail Outreach Team in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves conducting outreach and providing services to homeless clients on the MTA system, including substance abuse assessments, case management, and referrals to long-term supportive services.
What you'll do
- Conduct nightly outreach at Metro stations, bus stops, and aboard trains
- Conduct VI-SPDAT assessments for new clients
- Provide substance abuse assessments and referrals
- Provide street-based case management services
- Meet with established clients to review and support goal completion
- Collaborate with community providers and local law enforcement
What it takes
- Two years of direct experience with substance use services
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred)
- Certification in substance use counseling (preferred)
- CPR/First Aid training
- Tuberculosis Test
- Background Screening

- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Proof of insurance and ownership for personal vehicles
