Point Blue Conservation Science is seeking temporary apprentices to assist in habitat restoration projects, focusing on ecological restoration and education.
What you'll do
- Oversee and step into various key roles during a restoration day
- Teach place-based concepts of restoration science to K-12 students
- Implement restoration practices such as native species planting and willow harvesting
- Assist in nursery operations including testing plants for Phytophthora spp.
- Attend and support pre-restoration lessons at schools
- Support with designing and teaching lessons with the same classes
What it takes
- Must meet school district requirements to work with school children
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and complete strenuous physical tasks in various weather conditions
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Valid US driver’s license with favorable driving history
- Enthusiasm for ecological restoration work and teaching K-12 students
- Openness to learn and share knowledge and skills
