The role
The Stewardship Specialist or Manager is responsible for the stewardship of SEALT’s 44 conservation properties, including field monitoring, reporting, and property maintenance. This role involves supervising volunteers and may have supervision of another staff member depending on experience.
What you'll do
- Conduct field monitoring and documentation of SEALT conservation properties
- Complete detailed, accurate, and timely annual monitoring reports
- Verify compliance with conservation easements, deed restrictions, baseline documentation reports, and management plans for each property
- Document any potential or real conservation easement violations or management issues, and work with staff and volunteers to resolve them
- Maintain SEALT’s Volunteer Land Stewards program
- Maintain positive relationships with landowners and neighbors
What it takes
- Degree and 3+ years of experience OR 6+ years of experience in relevant fields such as natural sciences, property management/land management, environmental protection, park, trail, and/or facility maintenance, forestry, surveying, outdoor recreation and education
- Strong communication skills, with accuracy in reports
- Good trust-building and conflict resolution skills
- Proficiency with software including ArcGIS and Microsoft Office
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for committee meetings or special events
- Ability to work outdoors in challenging weather, hike several miles, be comfortable in boats and small planes, navigate in the field with GPS, and carry up to 30lbs
