The role
Assists with stewardship and management duties on Conservancy preserves within southern Delaware, including monitoring, maintenance, invasive species management, and visitor interaction.
What you'll do
- Assists with preserve monitoring and maintenance tasks
- Interacts with visitors by providing information about preserves
- Assists with field data collection for management purposes
- Assists with prescribed fire preparation and burns
- Deals with problems on preserves as they arise
- Assists stewardship staff with ecological monitoring
What it takes
- High school diploma and 1 year’s training in science-related field or related experience in land management
- Experience identifying plant and animal species
- Experience working in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, in difficult terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to hike over rough terrain for extended periods of time, lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Experience operating and maintaining power tools, chainsaws, and brush saws safely
