The role
The Stewardship Coordinator will provide stewardship of the natural resources on approximately 3,500 acres of land owned or managed by ACLT and advance ACLT’s broader conservation and public access initiatives.
What you'll do
- Lead the annual monitoring of ACLT's fee simple properties and other privately-owned properties on which ACLT holds conservation easements
- Maintain documentation of each property monitoring activity using reports, maps, photographs, notes, and other permanent records in compliance with Land Trust Alliance standards
- Implement and ensure compliance with management agreements between ACLT and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR)
- Help implement ACLT’s invasive species control program and coordinate volunteer workdays for mapping and removing invasive species
- Work with the Land Manager and volunteers to inspect and maintain ACLT’s 26 miles of public access trails and develop new trails
What it takes
- Bachelor's degree in natural resources management, environmental science, or a related field OR at least 2 years of experience as a natural resource/land manager
- Knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of natural resource management
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with a wide variety of people
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Google applications
