The role
The State Program Officer will be responsible for providing technical assistance to the state government and ensuring successful implementation of Maternal and Newborn programs. The position involves project and financial management, advocacy, and coordination with implementing partners.
What you'll do
- Support the Country Office and State Program Representative in the development of new projects and pre-contracting process
- Develop state specific project implementation work plans and implement projects under maternal, newborn and child survival
- Provide support to the SPR in state level advocacy and managing relations with external stakeholders
- Provide technical support and guidance to the state government for implementation of NI supported programs
- Coordinate with the implementing partners and project team members to ensure timely state and district level planning and optimal quality of project implementation
- Disseminate project monitoring and study findings with key state government officials and other stakeholders
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine with Masters in Paediatrics/Preventive and Social Medicine/Community Medicine/Public Health
- At least 4-5 years’ experience in programming in public health & nutrition with experience of working with Government
- Broad knowledge of nutrition including micronutrient and related interventions and health systems in India
- Strong Project management and administration skills
- Familiar with the monitoring systems in public health programmes
- Language Skills - English and Hindi, both oral and written. Good writing skills in English is a pre-requisite. Knowledge of Gujarati will be an advantage
