The role

E3G is recruiting a Senior Policy Advisor to advance their work around UNFCCC and climate diplomacy. The role involves building and cultivating relationships, driving political analysis, research, advocacy, and communications initiatives, and reporting to the Programme Lead, Climate Diplomacy & Geopolitics.

What you'll do

  • Lead UNFCCC engagement work within a dynamic, high-powered, and highly visible multi-location team
  • Build and cultivate critical relationships within governments, across international negotiations and relevant fora, and across the broader stakeholder community
  • Drive relevant political analysis, research, advocacy, and communications initiatives with key foreign policy actors and institutions
  • Work closely with relevant E3G teams around thematic issues such as finance, trade, industry, energy transition, adaptation and resilience
  • Report to Programme Lead, Climate Diplomacy & Geopolitics, and work closely across CDG and the organisation
  • Line management of a small team, including at least one Policy Advisor and/or researcher

What it takes

  • At least seven years of experience working in the fields of foreign policy, climate change policy, international relations, negotiations
  • Experiences of building consensus across countries and stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrable experience working on international climate policy and international issues in both analytical and influencing roles
  • Ability to operate confidently at high and “expert” level, in the worlds of government, business, the media and civil society
  • Strong personal networks at international level
  • Track record of thought leadership and problem solving
