The role

The National Audubon Society is seeking a Senior Director, Cultural Effectiveness & Strategic Initiatives to lead the enterprise-wide strategy for equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB). This leadership role oversees the Staff Exchange Program, inclusive leadership development, and employee engagement integration across a multi-state organization. The position requires a strategic leader who can manage complex cross-functional initiatives while supervising staff and advising executive leadership. The successful candidate will work in a hybrid capacity from one of Audubon's various regional office locations.

What you'll do

  • Set the strategic direction for EDIB learning, engagement, and strategic programs.
  • Oversee the design and enterprise-wide integration of the Staff Exchange Program.
  • Manage the Inclusive Leadership Certificate Program and related consulting services.
  • Partner with executive leadership to translate engagement insights into actionable organizational priorities.
  • Coach and develop direct reports while fostering an accountable, inclusive team culture.

What it takes

  • 10–12+ years of experience in EDIB, organizational development, or learning & development.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling enterprise-wide leadership development or certification programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and navigate complex organizational structures.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to translate data into scalable operational improvements.
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or French is preferred.
