The role
Planet is seeking a Senior Data Visualization Engineer to join the Data Visualization Team, which sits inside of the Marketing Department. The role involves creating visualizations for external distribution and leveraging Planet’s unique datasets and platform in new and compelling ways.
What you'll do
- Find and tell stories that showcase novel applications of Planet’s unique products
- Collaborate with Marketing colleagues to understand target audiences and create graphics for content
- Assist in scoping and providing technical feedback on Marketing content
- Partner with the Media Programs Manager and the rest of the DataViz team to prepare and share imagery externally
- Encourage and use best practices for data visualization as an expert resource within the organization
What it takes
- 6-8 years experience in relevant technical roles, preferably working with geospatial and/or remote sensing data
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads in a dynamic, client-driven work environment
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Advanced knowledge of use cases for remote sensing data
- Deep expertise in manipulating vector and raster data with core geospatial software and libraries
- Proven ability programming with Python to analyze geospatial data and interact with APIs
