Senior Counsel, Commercial

The role

Axios is hiring a Senior Counsel, Commercial to join their collaborative legal team and serve as a key legal partner to their revenue, product, and operations teams. The role involves advising senior business leaders, owning significant commercial matters, and helping shape practical solutions as the company develops new products, partnerships, and growth opportunities.

What you'll do

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements
• Own commercial legal intake and workflow
• Provide practical, business-focused advice
• Identify legal implications across privacy, IP, regulatory, and operational issues
• Handle routine commercial disputes and other business issues
• Scope and manage outside counsel efficiently

What it takes

• 6+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant in-house commercial experience
• Experience advising on product, sales, marketing, advertising, sponsorships, and digital media matters
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Broad issue-spotting skills and experience to identify and advise on legal and business risks
• Proven ability to operate independently, own matters end-to-end, and advise senior business leaders
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative, solution-oriented approach
