The role
The Senior Burn Crew Member works in prescribed fire operations, overseeing staff and volunteers during various land management activities including ignition, control, mop-up, suppression, and monitoring.
What you'll do
- Function as both leader and member of a work team under the supervision of the Land Conservation Specialist.
- Convey work instructions to burn crew members.
- Assist with all aspects of prescribed burning.
- Maintain assigned equipment.
- Perform other land management duties when conditions are not conducive to prescribed fire.
What it takes
- High school diploma
- Fire Fighter Type 2 (FFT2) qualified, including Introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors on the Fire Line (L-180), Introduction to Wild Land Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighting Training (S-130).
- Two seasons as a qualified FFT2 or agency equivalent.
- Physical fitness standards of Arduous pack test.
- Experience operating various types of equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
