The role

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is seeking a Senior Advocacy Communications Specialist to support advocacy communications strategies that advance legislative priorities and elevate WWP's voice on veterans' policy issues. The role involves media relations, earned media initiatives, and communication planning for federal and state advocacy efforts. This position requires a professional with strong writing skills and experience in advocacy-focused social media and multi-channel communication.

What you'll do

  • Execute advocacy communication plans for federal and state legislative priorities.
  • Coordinate and support media engagement by developing materials and monitoring coverage.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Beltway, national, and local media outlets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align communications tactics with campaign strategy.
  • Develop multi-channel content across email, web, social, print, and earned media.
  • Train and prepare warrior advocates to share their stories in high-visibility settings.
