What you'll do

  • Contributes to the provision of advice on threats affecting the United Nations
  • Evaluates and coordinates security information requirements, collection, collation and dissemination of security threat information
  • Analyzes security information, identifies trends of threats and security incidents affecting UN system personnel, assets and operations in Gaza
  • Assists in the development of specific security risk assessments for individual UN programmes and activities in Gaza
  • Conducts trend analysis, gathers comprehensive information on all factors of insecurity, assesses the relevance and validity of security information

What it takes

  • An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in security management, information management, communication science and technology or political/social science with focus on security information management
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in security information analysis or security management
  • Experience contributing to design and planning of risk mitigation strategies, including area security plans, Standard Operating Practices, or security risk management (SRM) for humanitarian operations
  • Experience with the humanitarian response in Gaza is required
  • Experience maintaining and coordinating a database and digital archives and production of data-driven security incident reporting is desirable
