The role
The Security Coordination Officer will be responsible for preparing security and contingency plans, maintaining lines of communication with security entities, assessing local security conditions, and ensuring the safety and security of UN personnel in Haiti.
What you'll do
- Prepare draft of security and/or contingency plans for the Mission, designated county or geographic area
- Maintain lines of communication with security focal points and all other security entities involved in the mission
- Assess prevailing local security conditions and advise UN staff on potential security problems
- Ensure the availability of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, fuel supply, and assessable roads for emergencies
- Conduct physical security inspections of facilities, issue identity cards, conduct background checks, and entry control
- Support Information’s Unit in coordination with Security Analyst
What it takes
- Advanced university degree (Master's) or equivalent in security management, business administration, political/social/military science, or international relations with focus on security management
- UNDSS Certification in the Security Analysis Process and Practice Course (SAPP)
- UNDSS Certification in the Security Certification Programme (SCP)
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in military, police, or security management
- Experience in UN operations planning and information management
- Experience managing security units in a United Nations field operation
