The role

The Resident Coordinator is the highest-ranking representative of the United Nations development system at the country level, responsible for leading UN country teams and ensuring system-wide accountability on the ground.

What you'll do

  • Represent the UN at highest levels of state and foster engagement with various partners to address national needs, priorities and sustainable development challenges
  • Lead the UN country team in developing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework
  • Coordinate UN system-wide support to government and identify risks to SDGs
  • Promote and advocate for the work of UNCT member agencies and support Country Representatives in reaching their agency-specific goals

What it takes

  • Over 15 years of substantive experience and results in leadership roles at international level, including five years of cumulative experience in development or humanitarian work at country level
  • Previous RC experience is required; senior-level inter-agency coordination experience may be considered in lieu of RC experience
  • Solid experience in managing multi-sectoral humanitarian programmes, operations and advocacy at the country level
  • Strong political acumen with proven ability to understand complex power dynamics
  • Extensive experience and results in accessing and working effectively with high-level government officials
