The Resident Coordinator (Guinea-Bissau) is responsible for leading the United Nations country team in addressing national needs, priorities and sustainable development challenges to advance the 2030 Agenda.
What you'll do
- Represent the United Nations at highest-levels of state and foster engagement with Government, civil society, bilateral and multilateral partners to address national needs and sustainable development challenges.
- Lead the UN country team in developing, monitoring and reporting on the UN Cooperation Framework.
- Coordinate UN system-wide support to government, taking a preventive approach and identifying risks to SDGs.
- Support, catalyze and advocate for the work of UNCT member agencies and Country Representatives.
- Engage with diverse entities including civil society, trade unions, employers' organizations, academia, media and think tanks around UN's collective support to the 2030 Agenda.
What it takes
- Over 15 years of substantive experience in leadership roles at international level, including five years of cumulative experience in development or humanitarian work.
- Previous RC experience is required. Senior-level inter-agency coordination experience may be considered in lieu of RC experience.
- Solid experience in management and/or coordination of multi-sectoral humanitarian programmes, operations and advocacy at the country level.
- Excellent political judgement and strong diplomatic skills with prior experience as a senior official in transition or post-transition settings.
- Proven ability to engage with all relevant stakeholders including government representatives, donors, regional organizations, civil society, women and youth groups.
