The role
The Research Assistant will support the Office of the Focal Point for Delisting by researching, analyzing, and compiling data for various reports and studies.
What you'll do
- Selects and evaluates a variety of documents, summarizes pertinent material, collects and analyses data and prepares background materials for assessment papers, studies, briefs and reports.
- Prepares a variety of reports, presentations, tables, lists, charts, data sets, and/or diagrams for information in order to facilitate the in-depth analysis of the retrieved information by the supervisor and other users.
- Attends a variety of meetings to follow discussions, takes notes and prepares summary reports, notes for the file, correspondence, etc.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties, such as attendance/leave recording, processes related to experts’ salaries, office supply and equipment orders, submitting travel requests and travel expense reports through UMOJA, visa applications, etc.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
What it takes
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in collecting and researching data for social, political or conflict analysis, or related areas is required.
- Demonstrated drafting experience is required.
- Experience in organizing/arranging travel of officials is required.
- One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, Russian, or Spanish is desirable.
