The role
The Director of Africa Region at IsraAID is responsible for managing Country Directors and the regional desk team, ensuring the performance and stability of Country Offices, and leading strategic execution and program quality.
What you'll do
- Hold formal line management responsibility for all Africa Region Country Directors and the Senior Programme Officer (SPO), Africa Region
- Ensure early identification of operational, financial, reputational, and contextual risks
- Guide the development and review of country strategies and annual workplans
- Serve as the primary lead of the Africa regional team under the matrix management structure
- Support Country Directors in the cultivation of strategic partnerships, funding relationships, and donor engagement
- Champion and uphold IsraAID's safeguarding standards across all levels of the Africa portfolio
What it takes
- Master's degree in International Development, Project Management, Social Sciences, Humanitarian Affairs, or a related field
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership and management experience in humanitarian and/or development settings
- Proven track record of direct line management of Country Directors or equivalent senior managers
- Strong crisis management and stabilization capabilities
- Deep understanding of programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and learning processes
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
