The role
AIS is seeking a Quantitative Ecologist to support the SEFSC Marine Mammal & Turtle Division by developing analytical approaches for marine mammal spatial and behavioral ecology.
What you'll do
- Develop analytical approaches for marine mammal spatial and behavioral ecology
- Identify key data gaps and develop/propose data collection methods
- Participate in fieldwork as needed
- Work with MMTD team members to integrate existing data streams within NOAA
- Develop technical reports and peer-reviewed publications
- Attend planning and coordination meetings
What it takes
- BS Degree in Marine Science or related field plus five years of relevant experience
- Experience with statistical analysis software such as R/Python, GIS
- Experience with legislative mandates like MMPA and ESA
- MS Degree (or higher) preferred
- Experience working with oceanographic and climatological data
