The role

The Public Health Midwifery Investment Specialist will lead the development of an evidence-based investment case for the Midwifery Model of Care in Nigeria. The consultant will conduct situational analyses, facilitate stakeholder workshops, and design workforce strategies to inform national policy and resource mobilization. This role involves collaborating with health economists and government bodies to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes.

  • Lead a comprehensive situational analysis of the RMNCAH+N landscape in Nigeria.
  • Define a model package of midwifery care and estimate workforce requirements.
  • Draft the final Investment Case document and accompanying policy briefs.
  • Develop workforce development and retention strategies for the midwifery sector.

What it takes

  • Postgraduate degree in Public Health, Midwifery, Nursing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in RMNCAEH+N programming or health systems strengthening.
  • Proven experience in conducting health situation and workforce analysis.
  • Knowledge of Nigeria’s health system, policies, and socio-cultural context.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills.
