The role

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a full-time internship with the Protection Team at the Regional Bureau for Eastern and Southern Africa in Nairobi. The intern will support legal frameworks and law reform, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

What you'll do

  • Conduct legal research and analysis on forced displacement and statelessness
  • Support the collection and analysis of data related to statelessness and durable solutions
  • Assist in preparing reports and communication materials for senior management and external stakeholders
  • Monitor developments in national laws, policies, and human rights situations
  • Support assessments and reporting on durable solutions

What it takes

  • Recent graduate or current student with at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of UNHCR’s work, especially in statelessness prevention and durable solutions
  • Excellent research, analytical, and drafting skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
