The role

The Project Officer position involves analytical and coordination responsibilities to support project development and strengthen relations with Member States and key institutions. The role includes researching and synthesizing information, analyzing trends, and participating in project formulation and execution. Additionally, the officer will monitor project activities, manage databases, and support various departmental initiatives.

What you'll do

  • Research, compile and synthesize information in support of project development and strengthening of relations with Member States, key institutions and organizations, and dialogue promotion
  • Analyze related trends and events affecting the situation in the hemisphere, recommending actions, drafting talking points and speeches, and participating in the elaboration and reviewing of reports and publications
  • Make proposals for, and participate in, the formulation and execution of projects, activities and initiatives for the organization of fact-finding, needs assessment, and advisory services to countries and regions
  • Monitor the execution and accounts of project-specific activities, processing and following-up on administrative and financial actions
  • Support and participate in various department-specific initiatives and dialogue promotion as related to the area of work
  • Manage, update and validate databases containing information on the activities of the area of work, producing reports and summaries on a regular or ad hoc basis and preparing analysis on regional issues

What it takes

  • First University Degree (Bachelor’s) in Political Science, Law, International Relations, Public Management, Social Sciences or related fields and 4 years of experience at the national and/or international level
  • Advanced University Degree (Master’s) in one of the fields listed above and 2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in at least two of the following languages: English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish
  • Experience or knowledge of the OAS mandate and priorities of the Inter-American agenda and system
  • Ability to effectively work using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other applications such as Oracle, Visio, Access, Share Point) and software applicable to the area of work
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
