The role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Project Director for a World Bank-funded health project in Sudan, focusing on restoring access to basic health and nutrition services.
What you'll do
- Provide overall strategic, technical, managerial, and fiduciary leadership for the project
- Ensure alignment with the annual workplan and budget agreed with the World Bank
- Serve as primary liaison with the Ministry of Health PMU, World Bank Task Team, UN agencies, donors, and other implementing partners
- Lead preparation of progress reporting to the Ministry of Health PMU and World Bank
- Ensure the application of do-no-harm, conflict-sensitive, and gender-transformative approaches across all activities
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with state health authorities and local civil society
What it takes
- Medical degree (MD) or advanced degree in public health, health policy, or health systems management
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in international health
- Experience implementing World Bank Investment Project Financing (IPF) projects
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-component health programmes
- Familiarity with World Bank Procurement Regulations, financial management, and Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) requirements
- Fluency in Arabic is preferred and English required
