The role

The internship is located in the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), Office of the Under-Secretary-General (OUSG), Programme, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (PMEU). The intern will support the drafting and review of DESA’s proposed programme plan for 2028, draft background papers and senior-level talking points, and assist in data collection, review, and analysis of responses to evaluations and audits conducted by oversight bodies.

  • Draft background papers and senior-level talking points
  • Prepare meeting summaries, concept notes and presentations
  • Contribute to the drafting and reviewing of monitoring and evaluation reports
  • Assist in data collection, review and analysis of responses to evaluations and audits conducted by oversight bodies
  • Support the follow-up to the implementation of findings and recommendations of internal and external evaluations

What it takes

  • Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams
  • Excellent drafting skills in English, ability to analyze, synthesize and extract essential information
  • Detail oriented, diligent, and deliver high-quality documents
  • Expertise with data collection and visualization tools
