The role

The Programme Management Officer will lead or direct the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, operations, policy development and implementation, and other activities in the Development Pillar of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) in Kabul.

What you'll do

  • Research, analyze and present mine action information and data
  • Collaborate with the UNCT to advise on mitigation measures for the risks from explosive ordnance contamination
  • Develop, implement and evaluate the UNAMA mine action programme strategy
  • Initiate and coordinate outreach activities
  • Provide guidance to external consultants and other parties
  • Organize and prepare written outputs

What it takes

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, management, international relations or a related field
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area
  • A minimum of four years of experience in programme management in mine action, security sector reform or stabilization in a conflict or post-conflict setting
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a managerial role in a mine action field programme
  • A minimum of two years’ experience engaging with senior government officials in complex humanitarian or conflict/post conflict setting
  • Experience in resource mobilization or fundraising
