The role

The Program Officer – Climate Adaptive Programming will provide technical oversight of the implementation of the NORAD framework’s Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation component, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place that support high-quality programming. He/She will ensure high-quality implementation and continuously work towards ensuring that activities of Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation lead to desired impact.

What you'll do

  • Develop climate change monthly and quarterly work plans
  • Provide technical guidance and support in the implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation activities
  • Ensure high-quality implementation of climate change and mitigation activities
  • Facilitate the identification and strengthening of partnerships relevant to Climate Change Adaption and Mitigation
  • Support the implementation of the accountability and learning framework for the organization
  • Monitor and follow up the Project Partner’s activities and ensure their timely delivery of the Planned activities

What it takes

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in climate sciences, environmental sciences, earth sciences, natural resource economics, or related field
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience related to the area of climate change, environment, disaster management and/or project/programme management
  • Experience working with government, donors or the UN previously
  • Experience in policy analysis, development work in the area of climate change and related issues
  • Strong Knowledge and understanding of Climate adaptation and mitigation programming specifically in the context of Karamja
  • Excellent relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision
