The role
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a Private Lands Habitat Technician to support wildlife habitat enhancement projects on private lands in Ephrata, Washington.
What you'll do
- Assess, design, and implement projects to improve or install wildlife habitat on private lands
- Apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles to control invasive weeds at habitat restoration sites
- Develop and conduct wildlife and plant surveys
- Assist with Hunter Access Programs for landowners and hunters in Region 2
- Operate, maintain, and inventory equipment and tools
What it takes
- Two (2) years of experience as a Natural Resource Worker 2 or related professional equivalent experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of wildlife population relationships, ecology, habitat relationships, survey methods, personal computer applications, animal and plant species identification, wildlife and habitat management tools and field techniques, federal, state, local, and agency private lands conservation programs, agricultural and silvicultural practices, pesticide laws and application, and local and state land use laws
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of motorized equipment
