The role
The Principal, IT Business Systems will design and deliver scalable data and analytics solutions for Finance and enterprise functions at The American Red Cross. This role involves translating business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring data security and governance, and providing cross-functional support.
What you'll do
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions, data models, semantic layers, and reporting solutions
- Serve as SME for data interpretation, ensuring consistent understanding of metrics across the organization
- Design enterprise Power BI semantic layer architecture, including data models, relationships, and calculation frameworks
- Implement row-level security and data access controls across user groups
- Provide data and analytics support across all Finance-owned technology solutions
What it takes
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics, BI, or data architecture
- Technical expertise: 7+ years Power BI experience including semantic model design, DAX development, and performance optimization
- Expert-level understanding of Power BI semantic models, relationships, calculation groups, aggregations, etc.
- Strong SQL and data modeling (star/snowflake schemas), including writing optimized queries and developing scalable views for proofs of concepts
- Experience with enterprise data warehouses (e.g., AWS Redshift)
