The role
The IDB is seeking a PEC Consultant - Research Department (RES) Macroeconomist to support RES Economists in conducting analytical and policy-oriented research on macroeconomic issues in Latin America and the Caribbean.
What you'll do
- Prepare talking points, briefing notes, and Q&A materials for senior management
- Monitor macroeconomic, financial, fiscal, external, and trade indicators for the region
- Translate findings from the Annual Macroeconomic Report into concise policy products
- Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Macroeconomic Report
- Build, update, and document macroeconomic databases
- Undertake research and analysis on macroeconomic and financial policy topics
What it takes
- Master’s degree in economics, finance, or related field
- At least 5 years of macroeconomic analysis and research experience
- Demonstrated experience producing high-quality analytical work
- Proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
- Proficiency in econometric software (e.g., Stata, R, Python, Matlab)
- Citizenship of one of the 48-member countries of the IDB
