Paralegal - Rapid Response Legal Collaborative

The role

NYLAG is seeking a full-time paralegal to support the Rapid Response Legal Collaborative (RRLC), providing legal assistance to New York residents detained by ICE or at risk of detention and removal.

What you'll do

• Conduct pre-screening of clients for basic eligibility requirements
• Support legal research and draft legal documents under attorney supervision
• Interview clients and witnesses, as appropriate, and assist in preparing forms, affidavits, and other supporting documents
• Manage data entry in internal and external data management systems and assist with generating reports
• Provide internal and external referrals for financial counseling and other wraparound services

What it takes

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Fluency in Spanish is required
• 1-2 years of immigration experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and manage multiple tasks
• Experience working with immigrant communities of color
